It’s the track that has taken over clubs, dancefloors, streaming and radio charts all around the world. “DOWN DOWN DOWN” is the hook that has been ringing in your head all winter and you’ve been itching to bump it at the beach, house party or Sunday sesh once the summer days roll. Now you can hear it live and direct at FOMO 2020.
By far one of the most popular tracks of 2019, the group behind ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ went from being relatively unknown to one of the world’s biggest dance acts. Meduza’s debut single has been the most viral dance song of 2019, amassing 320 MILLION streams on Spotify and over 120 million combined views on Youtube.
Consisting of three friends from Milan; Luca de Gregorio, Mattia Vitale and Simone Giani, the track was produced with fellow house production trio ‘Goodboys’ out of the UK. The two groups shared a moment while they were working together and it turned out to be a masterstroke.
In an interview with The Playground, Mattia was asked about the creative process behind their hit track and revealed that Josh from the Goodboys and Meduza’s Simone provided the vocals behind the infectious hook. “We were sharing ideas on how to make the drop when Josh from Goodboys and Simone was in the vocal booth talking to the mic, showing us their thoughts.” Mattia said. “We left the microphone on by accident and that’s how they made the pre-drop and the drop-chorus for ‘Piece Of Your Heart’. Everyone from the team was shocked at the first-listen in the studio but by the end of the week, we knew made something big.”
Who would’ve thought a mistake so small could go on to be the catalyst for success? The track has had a great run in the charts here in Australia and all over the world. ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ has peaked at #2 on the UK Dance Charts and topped the Billboard Dance Club Songs Charts in the US. Here in Australia, ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ is the most Shazamed song of the year in Australia and is working wonders in the streaming world with amassing a phenomenal 320 million streams on Spotify and over 120 million combined views on Youtube, making it the most viral dance track of 2019.
The plaudits for Meduza don’t stop there. The trio have had a fantastic track record thus far with remixes, turning heads with their debut remix of Friendly Fires’ ‘Heaven Let Me In’ and a powerful remix of RITUAL’s ‘Using’.
